WINES, WAVES & BEYOND LONGBOARD SURF CLASSIC

When it comes to having fun, the Central Coast knows how to do it right.

This classic surf and wine event celebrates the best of San Luis Obispo County. Combining the fun, laid back atmosphere of our wine country and unique surf culture, enjoy four days of unforgettable events evoking the magic of wine and waves. These events take place at numerous scenic venues throughout San Luis Obispo County. All proceeds go to support the Association of Amputee Surfers (AmpSurf). WW&B has raised over 45,000 over the past three years, and continues to help support this amazing organization.

  • SURF MOVIE NIGHT

    Woodshed Films presents
    “Groundswell” & “Thicker Than Water”
    Special guests: Dan Malloy & cinematographer Kellen Keen
    Fremont Theatre, SLO
    6:30pm • $10

    Come on down to the landmark Fremont Theater to kick-off another great year for Wine, Waves & Beyond. Woodshed Films is presenting their film “Groundswell” with special guests, Dan Malloy and Cinematographer Kellen Keen. All proceeds from this epic movie event will go to AmpSurf, in a night filled with community, culture, surfing and prizes! Raffle tickets can win everything from original art & custom boards, to dinner at SLO county's finest restaurants, plus tickets to weekend Wine Waves & Beyond events.

    Groundswell – This documentary by Chris Malloy charts an extraordinary surf trip along BC’s unspoiled west coast with surfers acting as ambassadors for marine life. Through their remarkable experiences, and compelling narrative by young indigenous leaders, the film provides a fresh voice to a coast in peril.

    Thicker Than Water – This film is directed by singer/songwriter Jack Johnson and his film school friend Chris Malloy. It is a collection of images and memories that started with the first time they stood on the deck of a surfboard, and ends with an 18 month journey through the North Atlantic, South Pacific, and the Bengal. Thicker than Water received Surfer magazine's 2000 Video of the Year Award.

    Held on the ocean front lawn at the Cliffs Resort, Wine Waves & Beyond truly presents a Barrel to Barrel event that can't be forgotten. With live music from Aloha Radio, over 35 visiting wineries and breweries, local cuisines, and an incredible silent auction, come down for a glass of wine, tastes from our best local restaurants and a sunset to remember.

    Our partner Chronic Cellars is pairing up Cypher and Grey Wolf Cellars to pour for our 1st ever Winemaker dinner! Chefs from around the county will each create a delicious course paired with a flight of these three local wines. Space is limited so make sure you sign-up soon! Even more, this year's chef auction returns with the opportunity to bid on custom meals prepared for you and three guests by SLO county's finest chefs.

  • SURF CONTEST


    Sunday, June 2
    Longboard Surf Contest
    Pismo Beach Pier
    7 – 3pm • $30 Entry Fee

    Rise and shine on Sunday, June 2nd for the 4thAnnual Wine, Waves, & Beyond Longboarding Contest. Not only will there be men and women's heats, but a Challenged Athletes and local Winemakers/Brew Masters heat once again!

    This will be an incredible display of courage and skill. With Peachy Canyon, Chronic Cellars, and Niner Wine Estate holding past wins, come see what this year will bring!

    Best Perk: The $2,000 worth of CASH prizes sponsored by the City of Pismo Beach! The winner in each division will receive $250 in cash along with a glass trophy by artisti, Ted Emrick. All proceeds benefit the Association of Amputee Surfers.

    For those that aren't surfing (and even those who are) be sure to check out the 805 Classic. This is a day filled with classic VW's, live music from Soul Sauce and the Crisptones, BBQ & featured Firestone Walker Brewing Company brews near the contest. Come relax and watch the sun set to finish up the event weekend.

    Beach entries will be accepted until the contest starts at 6:30am. No Beach Entries after 6:30am. Remember that this is a LONGBOARD contest and your board must be a minimum of 9'0''

    Classic VW’s, Live Music, BBQ & Drinks on the Beach
    Featuring Firestone Walker Brewing Co.
    Addie Street Parking Lot & Beach just south of Sea Venture Resort
    12:00pm-5:00pm – Free! *drinks & BBQ for purchase

    Sunday Fun Day! Hit the beach in front of the Sea Venture for a full day of food and drinks, plus live music alongside our annual VW show.

    Bring your family out to the Beach House just south of the Sea Venture resort where there will be a barbecue as well as beer & wine for purchase. Come out for live music from noon to 5pm. We couldn't think of a better way to round out the 2013 Wine Waves and Beyond extravaganza. Hope to see you there!





  • VW Display


    Sunday, June 2nd Classic VW Display! Addie Street Parking Lot Vote Favorites • 11am-4:30pm Entry Fee for car owners ($10 Pre-Register, $20 Day-of)

    Activities Schedule: 9am - 10:00am Meet & Greet
    10am – 11:00am Cruise thru Pismo Beach Area
    11am to NOON Display starts (Position cars and decorate)
    12 to 2:30 pm Spectator Judging
    3:30 pm VW Awards

    Alongside the surf contest, there will be a vintage VW display (Buses, Bugs and More) at the Addie Street parking lot, right next to the beach. VW enthusiasts from up and down the coast will come to show off their cars, while spectators vote on their favorite. Vintage Volkswagen owners are encouraged to go all out for the following themes:


    • Car you would most want to be seen cruising in
    • Beach Boulevard Cruiser
    • Beach Blanket Bingo Central
    • Car most equipped for that all day or all night beach party or both
    • Most Surf Safari Worthy
    • Car most equipped for that drive in search of the perfect wave

    There will be three classes Buses, Bugs and More (Other), each class will award the winners based on the above listed themes. Last year's competition ranged from a simple surf board to a beach party in the back of a single cab! So let your mind wonder back in time and come out and support a great cause either as a entrant or spectator!
